The Old and The Not So Old
I had a fairly quiet day today; it was raining first thing so we stayed in bed for an extra half an hour. Then the boiler man rang to say he would be round between 10 and 12 to fix the clock on our boiler.
Whilst waiting for boiler man scrap metal man came hurtling down the street playing a mournful tune as is his wont. I flagged him down and with a great deal of effort they managed to manoeuvre our old metal printing press into the back of their van.
It was back on 16th February I predicted the demise of his fine antique, well now it's gone no doubt earning its collectors lots of dosh :-(
This afternoon we went for coffee as usual and walked home by the river. Not a particularly pleasant afternoon (a bit autumnal) but Ann wanted to show me the new plaque that has been erected on Bancroft Gardens.
It commemorates the Jubilee Pavilion erected by David Garrick in 1769, whose namesake pub is a favourite of rozwood1970 when she's in Stratford.
I've pictured it along with the current RSC Theatre to show the old and the new, though as part of the refurbishment the 1930's frontage, and some of the interior, were maintained in a very clever architectural juxtaposition.
