Cairnbank Path.

Had business in Penicuik today so wandered up Cairnbank Road. This gate across a right of way has been a bone of contention since it was Blipped by SparseRunner in June last year.

It is generally assumed that it has been in use since Penicuik House was built (1761), by workers employed on the estate. The court case comes up in just over a week’s time with two of my friends giving evidence in support of the path being re-opened. Whatever happens, it will cost somebody a lot of money.
 
The extras show the signage on the way up to, and on the gate, my sympathies are with the occupants of the house for sale whose notice is not visible until you’re well past the “Private Property” sign. Incidentally, the anti-climb non-drying paint has completely dried out; had I been a few years younger, I would have climbed over.
