Lines and Circles
I've been grounded. Nothing for it but to try to find something interesting within 50 feet of the farmhouse. This is part of the gate in the original fence. I love the weathered wood, bleached color, rusty hardware and the lichen.
Several things have resolved this week.
I don't think there is anything seriously wrong with my knee. I'm just supposed to keep the weight off of it while the physio tortures the muscles into releasing their grip.
Our dear #1 granddaughter has been in and out of the hospital all summer for severe abdominal pain. She had a very dramatic and complicated birth 13 years ago and, among other things, wound up with a colostomy which was removed a few months later. Surgery last Wednesday revealed that when the original doctor reattached her colon, he reattached it with a twist in it.(Not much of a seamstress!) Although Julia wound up having open surgery instead of the less invasive arthroscopic kind, everybody is enormously relieved to know what has been causing the poor kid so many problems. She's a trooper, though. I had the following text exchange with her this morning:
-How's it going, Julia?
-I feel tired and my tummy is sore
-Did they tell you about hugging a pillow to your tummy?
-No they did not
-Try it before you turn over or, God forbid, if you have to cough or sneeze
-Or laugh
Bless her heart....
We decided not to buy the house in Sebastopol. It's amazing after all the muddling about, when the decision is finally made, it seems so obvious!
The Oakland A's (baseball) are going to the divisional playoffs. While this is a matter of some indifference to me, our daughter is beside herself...more excited than her two baseball playing sons!
OilMan is almost finished digging holes, sinking gopher baskets, planting grasses and moving rocks. Maybe he'll stop and enjoy the fruits of his labors for awhile, but I doubt it.
