SillySaturday
Three years ago it was decided that the Science Park on the edge of the village needed its own gas supply. So at considerable expense and disruption to the village a dedicated gas supply was laid. This year it has been decided that the village gas pipes need to be replaced. It all started well, it would take just two weeks and the High Street would be kept open with a single lane controlled with lights. The only problem was that when they dug down to the pipes they found the newer science park pipes had been laid ABOVE and not at the side of the village supply, so the work on the village pipes is much more difficult than supposed. It will now take 4 – 6 weeks and they can’t keep the High Street open because they need the space – so the High Street is now closed!!!
