Now that I am using the heated bird bath, the water evaporates more quickly. When I went out on the deck this morning there were no birds at the feeder and the bath was almost dry. As soon as I filled the bath, the birds came in swarms to drink up and get a bite to eat. 
This is a red breasted nuthatch that rounds out the rest of the nuthatches that we get here: white breasted and pygmy.
