Not just a tart ...

there is a very good story attached to this photo which I will update when I have more time tomorrow!

So... a few days ago the mother (Eva) who I rent my room from was mugged quite nastily on a street near our house. This is sadly something that happens so often in Buenos Aires people usually just accept it and move on (last week I heard/witnessed/experienced a mugging every day during a five day period).

However, this time she was very very upset, the money she lost, although substantial, was not the end of the world but in her bag she had very precious photographs of her daughter which she knew she couldn't replace . After seeing she was still very low the day after I decided to buy her a bunch of flowers on the way home from school to cheer her up and was surprised to find she wasn't there when I got home.

However, shortly after she came running up the stairs, shrieking and laughing (I was quite surprised/shocked) announcing that her purse had been found with all the photographs inside. Apparently the thief had seen the photographs and seemed to have a change of heart so preceded to hand the purse back into a shop who rang Eva to come back and retrieve it!

Luckily for us the shop happened to be a patisserie and so we ended up with celebratory tart!

This city never ceases to amaze me!
