Sunset from Fernandina Island

The long motor over night had brought us to the Western side of Isabela Island.  We moored at Punta Vicente Roca which is the mouth part of the seahorse shape of Isabela Island.  After breakfast our first excursion was a Panga trip along the coast of an impressive cliff.  Alongside were bazillions of marine Iguanas, Nazca boobys, noddy terns, pelicans, blue footed boobies and some flightless cormorants.   There were more Sea lions, a heron, fighting iguanas, a huge cavern with turtles and a penguin.

Back to the ship and then it was out again for snorkelling.  We were fitted with wet suits, fins and masks.  There were fish, turtles and an octopus that I saw.  No penguins or Mola Mola.  Lots of diving Boobys though.

After lunch it was a short motor to Fernandina Island.   If you have ever watched the David Attenborough series on the Galapagos where the snakes chase after the Iguanas it was filmed near the point we landed - Punta Espinoza.   Bazillions of iguanas again spitting and swimming.  A couple of bull sea lions.  A whale skeleton, another penguin, an Eagle ray, crabs, more flightless cormorants and the Galapagos Hawk.  Quite good sightings too but after we got back to the ship there was this amazing sunset.  We had a neighbour, the Evolution and it looked rather lovely against that pink sky.  I have put extras up of one of the Iguanas and the Hawk.
