The fish and chip boat
The re-opening of the Forth and Clyde Canal as one of Britain's millennium projects led to this pioneering bit of entrepreneurship.
John McMonagle opened the world's first sail-thru fish and chip shop in a boat he commissioned himself and named Debra Rose after his daughter.
By all acounts most of the small canal boats that pass by stop and get some chips - at least for the novelty value.
The chip shop doesn't float, it sits on a concrete base, so clever Mr McMonagle doesn't have to pay canal dues. We Scots are up to all the tricks.
