Copenhagen and Me.

There a few nations that have their stero-type as specifically defined as the Danes. It even has a name - "Jante Law". From a book by a fellow scandonavian about a fictional town called Jante, the author pokes fun at the Danes with a list of laws that they all follow. Now, all Danes will, in equal measure, admit that it is true and completely untrue. It's true. In essence the laws (10 of them) boil down to "we're all equal and no one can stand out". One clear piece of evidence is shop names, this one being a classic; "books". Not Barry's  Books or Book Box or anything smart - just  Books.

For reference, here are the 10 laws.

You're not to think you are anything special.
You're not to think you are as good as we are.
You're not to think you are smarter than we are.
You're not to imagine yourself better than we are.
You're not to think you know more than we do.
You're not to think you are more important than we are.
You're not to think you are good at anything.
You're not to laugh at us.
You're not to think anyone cares about you.
You're not to think you can teach us anything.

A bit scary if you read them again.
