Bishnoi and Jogi tribes

A trip out of the city again today, this time to visit a pottery, some more Jogi tribes (nomads, although these have been settled by the government giving them land) and also the world's first ecological society, the Bishnoi, who earned the name of tree huggers literally by hugging trees to try to stop them from being cut down in the 17th century.

We also called in to see some hand made carpets and kilims (two sided carpets, which are not knotted like a carpet to allow you to turn it over and use the other side.

I went mad and bought a magic pot (fill it from the bottom tip it up the right way and nothing comes out), and a kilim for my new office. Now I just need the office!

A quick trip around some markets once we were back in Jodhpur to finish the day.

More in extras and even more in facebook.
