Plums and Custard

or Tricholompsis rutilansif you want to give it its sunday name, is so called because it has a plum coloured cap and stem and custard coloured gills.

My trusty fungus bible (by which I do not mean a bible made of fungus but Roger Philips' 'mushrooms and Other Fungi of Britain and Europe') says that this mushroom is considered edible. However it also describes it as tasting watery and smelling of rotting wood. perhaps not, then.
