Shangri La

Built last century, this apartment block was roundly criticised for being inappropriate in Herne Bay. Most of the houses in Herne Bay were from the end of the 19th century or early in the 20th. What is known as villa style homes. This tower, and a nearby second tower, are now a well accepted part of the landscape. High on the Ponsonby Herne Bay ridge, they can be seen from some distance away, including from the deck of our apartment. 
This photo was taken just after the sun had risen this morning, before I even had had breakfast. The day was too full of meetings and other things to get outside and at the end of the working day, I just rode home without looking for a photo on the way. I'm looking forward to my three day break.
