South Kessock

We were up and out early as the car had to be in Inverness by nine o'clock. The sun was really bright as we went over the bridge although the sky was really dark behind us. There was a slight rainbow too.
We went for a cold and windy walk along the canal at Clachnaharry.Wigeon and Mallards were swimming about on the canal. Curlew, red shank and oyster catchers prodded about in the mud as the tide was out.
We stopped at South Kessock. The blip photo shows one of the carved benches with the Kessock bridge in the background. You can also see a memorial stone to six men who drowned after' the ferry crossing the Beauly Firth from the Black Isle to South Kessock was caught in a storm.'
Three of the victims were ferrymen and the others were coastguards who were attempting the rescue, most had a wife and a young family at home, some with 8 children.
