Fabulous!
If you're anywhere in the DC area between now and Nov 26, RUN, don't walk, to the World Press photo exhibit at DC's Dupont Underground! It is mind-blowing.
Not only does it feature this year's competition winners in worldwide photojournalism and story telling, but also the top winners for each of World Press' last 60 years -- some really iconic shots there. It also shows work on series (multi-photo projects). Some of the works will make you cry, others will make you smile, all of it should make you think! In fact the exhibit's sponsor (Lightscape) is organizing discussion sessions with various local partners to engage in the issues depicted and open our minds to our community, our country and the world. I love it when photography serves a "higher purpose."
It's housed in an underground tunnel that was the 'station' for old tramways and it's circular, so you keep discovering new stuff as you move along the tunnel (see extra).
I've been to many, many exhibits but this one ranks among the top ones. I am so glad I went :)
