The Magic Band

I was told about an infamous Captain Beefheart gig in Liverpool, 1980, at a club called Rotters, also infamous as a place you didn't really want to go. I was pretty amazed to find there's a live recording of the gig available as a real record - Merseytrout. 

Sadly the main man is no longer with us, but the band lives on, in one form or another. And that's who took the stage at the Phil tonight as part of a weekend celebration of all things Beefheart to celebrate 45 years since he first exhibited a series of paintings at Liverpool's Bluecoat.
