Nº 16

A day spent mostly at the apartment. While waiting to take S to the poetry conference this morning (she had a slow start due to poor sleep and headache, poor lass), I emptied a big pot which had lost whatever was planted in it. There were some freesia bulbs still in the soil, which I replaced with a mix of that soil and some new compost. Left a big hole in the middle and planted the red rose (named Nelson College) which we bought last week.

Took S in, and then did some essentials shopping at supermarket and Farro before having lunch. Read a paper about the failure of scales and forms to meaningfully predict suicide. Then called by S to get her as the lack of sleep, and aftermath of a migraine caught up with her. In the time she had been there, she was able to meet some of those who had valued highly her contribution yesterday evening to the panel discussion.

I had realised that the venue for the conference (The Ellen Melville Centre in Freyberg Place) was close to another Paul Walsh painted utility box. It is in Courthouse Lane, a short street running from Kitchener Street into Freyberg Place. Indeed the box (shown here) is almost in the open space. I took the photo as S was getting in the car.

In case you can't read what is below panic, it is SCHOKOWASHERE. I did a search and found that there are some chocolate biscuit things called Schoko waffles. Made me think that these biscuits must be being imported. Just now it has occurred to me that this is a variation on the old Kilroy was Here. I'm sure that there has been a lot of chocolate eaten in this place
