I go there for a sunny coffee and end up playing Pawns Vs Queen with a 7 yr old girl. She's pretty smart and picks up the chess rules pretty quick but P Vs Q was a bit easier for her to get into. I'm reminded that's how my Dad taught me and how I kept losing until I got a book from the library and practised a few moves. I think I was even in a chess club, until I got depressed by the cleverer kids beating me weekly. How sad I was not to be brighter than them, but brighter than the other kids I didn't get on with either.

Otherwise it was a sunny sunny day and festival Edinburgh is a million millipede marching legs, drums drumming at the tattoo, bbq's on the meadows and pages to read in my book. Despite all the madness I must have fled the flat moving / life changing prep for some respite in the fresh air.
