Rugby!
Today has not been a great day - I woke up early with a bit of a cold and sniffles and so decided not to go for a run in the rain, a wise decision I think.
Then I could not go out as I had to wait for the plumber to come. He was late...he was installing a sparkling water maker on the one kitchen tap which when he finished the job we realised the machine was faulty and it was not working, which was so annoying. When Gavin took delivery of the item in July it looked like the courier had dropped it and when Gavin phoned the supplier to complain they would not accept any responsibility and said how did they know that we did not drop it. We half expected it not to work but we could not know until it was installed.
The plumber also had to fix a shower that is either freezing cold or boiling hot, but when he replaced the temperature sensor it still did not work - more frustrations and its still not fixed.
We have an insinkerator fitted to the kitchen sink which has never worked properly since we moved in to the house so Gavin finally ordered a new one which he collected today and he was quite excited to install it. However it was the wrong model but he was able to return it with no quibble - thanks to Screwfix, Gavin's latest favourite store. He is in 7th heaven in that shop, being so fond of DIY as he is. Forget about technical gadgets or watching sport on TV, he would rather spend all day wandering around Screwfix!
After such a frustrating morning we went to watch Thomas' rugby match. It had finally stopped raining and it was not too cold but then I was warmly dressed. After starting the season in the 4th team Thomas played for the 2nd team today so he was rather chuffed about that - note the new black and white rugby kit as the 1st and 2nd team wear different colours to the other teams. Sadly their team lost! But England beat Argentina 21-8 today, a great result!
Tomorrow is Remembrance Sunday and its an early start to get to the service at school, as Thomas is playing the Last Post again. He is at a party tonight so I hope he plays well tomorrow!
