D Day Landing

Noo is very pleased with his Lego model of the D Day Landing on Omaha beach in Normandy, complete with landing craft, a tower housing a big gun, a man going into a tunnel, and two men waiting to dig him out. The men in the water do have legs, but they are beneath the water!

Omaha beach was part of the Normandy Landings on 6th June 1944. The Americans had responsibility for securing a beach head of 8km depth, and forming a link to other similar operations. This particular landing wasn't very successful for a number of reasons, and there were many casualties.
