Community orchard resident

Today we spent a few hours working in the Community Orchard, weeding round the trees and scooping up fallen leaves - we don't want the leaves to harbour disease over winter if there is any. After an hour or so the committee from a neighbouring community orchard came to visit and we explained what we had been doing and plan to continue to do.

Today's blip is another shot of a dog stinkhorn (Mutinus caninus) fungus fruiting body, I've blipped it before but I think this gives a better view of the base from which it erupts.

After the orchard we invited our visitor home for tea and a biscuit, and then we did a quick visit to the supermarket to get provisions for the week. Even though we bought less than normal, it cost a lot more than normal, inflation is VERY visible now in the supermarkets!
