Christmas Cakes

Today’s picture shows what I have been doing today. I always bake two, one for Christmas, the other for eating now. They are both gluten-free and do not contain nuts, but have extra cherries instead. The smaller one is a little over-baked, just on one side; I blame the oven! The oven is very old and belonged to someone else before me. Every year I claim I will not make another Christmas cake, but three years without a proper kitchen and I still make two!
 
Cold and windy today so we are all indoors, although a certain cat has been outside twice and even up on the balcony to check out the weather; it had not changed so he is also indoors now sleeping on his blanket.
