Sliema and Duck Village

On our final day we decided just to wander around Sliema and Gzira. On the waterfront at Gzira i found this monument, I just found it so harrowing. I'm not even sure what the monument was for and I can't seem to find it on the old google search... so any info on what this monument/sculpture is about I would love to know!

Eventually we can across the famous 'duck village' which mainly contained chickens, geese and guinea pigs and no ducks at all! (Extra pics - along the side of the shore to the right) The duck village is looked after by the community and relies on donations so the animals there are fed and cared for. Our visit to the duck village was sadly ruined by a particularly loud southern couple who decided to make themselves heard by loudly exclaiming 'IT'S DISGUSTING.. IT'S EVERYTHING I HATE!' I was dying to turn round and say 'JUST LEAVE THEN. NO ONE IS KEEPING YOU HERE.' Why are they always so loud...?
