Forest Walk
Mrs BB and I did Walk 8 of The Vale Trails Leaflets of walks in The Vale of Glamorgan. There are 10 in the series and this was the last circular walk we hadn't done, leaving two to do that need getting back to the start. The 7 mile walk was in the Hensol and Pendoylan area.
It is probably the least scenic walk we've done with a multitude of paths and we've agreed that it's not one we'd do again. What added over a mile to the 7 stated in the leaflet is that the company Euro Forest have decimated one forest they're working on (next to The Vale Golf Course) and we got lost as the path was no longer present and their detour went the wrong way! By the time we got back to the car at 4.30pm the sun was setting.
By the way, Euro Forest have decimated our local mountain (Machen) of it's trees and are still working on it over a year after they started! We're unable to walk the footpaths as they've blocked them. They've apparently got a £30million tender from the Welsh Government to cut down trees on Forestry Land that are valued at £50 million. It wasn't put out to tender and other companies are furious!
The photo I like best is about half hour from the finish when the sun was low on the horizon as it was setting for the day, and casting a long shadow over the field.
