The New Saints

It was supposed to be a relaxing day out - travelling by tram then train down to Shropshire for a pub lunch and then to watch Welsh League team The New Saints play Scottish side Queen of the South in the Irn Bru Cup.  A points failure on the tram system brought about a nightmarish, protracted journey and a missed lunch.  The day overall involved 11.5 hours from leaving home to returning.  The journey went: lift, tram, walk, bus, walk, train, train, lift, match, lift, train, train, train, tram, tram, lift.

Oh and the game finished 0-0 after 90 minutes plus 30 extra time minutes. TNS eventually won on penalties but I missed that, having had to leave to catch one of my trains.

This picture shows the Remembrance Day minute's silence before kick-off, with the teams' mascots posing in front of the extraordinary media stand at the delightful TNS ground, near Oswestry.
