Family Heirloom?

Finally finished clearing and sorting out my mother-in-law's house. One of the last boxes we looked in contained this old cruet set, which she has been increasingly concerned about as it is a prized family heirloom and worth a lot of money.

Erm... well, not exactly! We did laugh when we googled the hallmark on the bottom and found that 'EPBM' means it is 'electroplated Britannia Metal, a cheap silver substitute, utterly despised by collectors.' Apparently it's probably worth less than was originally paid for it so perhaps we won't be looking to buy one of those off-the-shelf 'Lord and Ladyships' quite yet!

My mother-in-law was very pleased that we'd found it but obviously we didn't give her the bad news!
