Mono Monday : : Guilty Pleasures
Our black humor during the evacuation days was that we might find ourselves with a new front door bur no house to put it on. Thank goodness we were spared that fate, but for awhile we had the house but no new front door. It was ordered months ago but had to be manufactured in Los Angeles. When it was finally shipped, it got lost in the confusion of the fires, the evacuations, and the traffic. We finally located it again with the help of the guys at Pinky's Iron Doors, and David, who is extremely busy these days, took the time out to install the door.* There is only one problem now. There was no hardware shipped with it. Another call to PInky's revealed that it was never shipped from the hardware manufacturer. They are expediting the shipping. In the meantime, we have a stunning new door which we will have to keep closed with a rope....
I don't feel at all guilty about having a new door. The old one never worked very well and never felt very secure. However I may just have to move the rustic furniture....but that doesn't really make me feel guilty either. In fact, I think perhaps 'guilty pleasure' is an oxymoron....
*The doors were extremely heavy. David called in his son to help lift it into place. There was a lot of grunting. OilMan helped with body language. David will be back to our the trim around the door and install the handles and lock...when it comes....
