Grey Granite

One of the granite villas on Queens Road. Before the oil industry Aberdeen was famous for its granite quarry : most of the houses in the west end of the city are build of granite and this is an example. These all used to be big family homes : now the majority are flatted or have been turned into offices.
The disused quarry was at one time one of the biggest man made holes in the world and is now filled with a couple of hundred feet of water. There are ambitious plans to turn it into a tourist attraction
