HALT

This photo does not reveal a pretty story. I am not from South Carolina, and do not live there now, but I live very close and am frequently in North Myrtle Beach. This wall is on Ocean Blvd which runs parallel to the ocean. When the Boulevard reaches the borders of Atlantic Beach there is a barrier on both borders. You must drive perpendicular to the ocean to a major thoroughfare from either border to go around the area of Atlantic Beach. You can enter Atlantic Beach from the thoroughfare, but you can’t drive through it from the north or south. The tallest building in this photo is north of the barrier wall on the opposite side of the community. Atlantic Beach is a town of African American people. The whole scene and circumstance reminds me of another era and/or part of the world, but the reality is as shown.
