It was 108 years ago...

... in 1909, when the original (top) photograph was taken in Knaresborough, showing a Tradesmen's Procession along Cheapside.

This was obviously a popular event and the street was much busier than it is today.

I haven't published one of my Then&Now blips for a while, mainly because I've been compiling a Then&Now Calendar for Harrogate Library. It is hoped sales will help raise money to further the work that our local studies volunteer group is doing to scan  the extensive photo archive and eventually make the collection more readily accessible to the public.

The calendar went on sale this week (see extra) so I can now relax a little.
