Bracken
Went back to the New Forest this morning to get the bracken shot I missed yesterday. It was quite early, though not very, and despite what it said on the BBC Weather site there was still a lot of grey swirling around as well as sun. So I got some bracken shots, then saw this pony on Fritham Plain, gazing rather wistfully into the mist - bracken coloured where the sun broke through, standing in a mix of bracken and heather (that pink blur is bell heather) and with a rather fetching piece of leafage decorating her right eye. Perhaps her name was Bracken.
Anyway, the colours just blew me away, rich browns and opaque slate blue air above the valley and the touch of pink. Essence of autumn and I love the way she's kind of indivisible from the forest.
At lunchtime my lovely son came over and we went together to Southampton to me buy a new TV which he then installed. As he puts it, I'm now in the flatscreen age (I'd be embarrased to tell you how old the previous one was).
Have a good week and hopefully see you next weekend, if not before x
Sorry to those of you who have already commented, but I've just realised the little bit of pink could qualify this for the Breast Cancer Awareness Challenge
