Waddesden
A trip over to Waddesden Manor today for a visit to the Christmas Market. All a little disappointing; the market has moved to the front of the house on either side of the wide entrance lawn and whilst this undoubtedly gives it a lot more space it has lost all the atmosphere that it had when it was installed in a smaller area at the back of the house, and didn't feel any different from any town centre market at this time of year. We normally go into the house to see it decorated for Christmas but a charge of £5 has been introduced for National Trust members and whilst that is not a lot, we have 'done' the decorations several times before and slightly begrudge an additional charge to go in.
Where the market used to be sited overlooks this fountain at the back of the house; all of the statues have now been wrapped up to prevent damage over the winter.
