Ekofisk Oilfield

This is the rest of the complex that I blipped yesterday. Each section has a different purpose, there are Accommodation platforms, drilling platforms & platforms for processing the Oil & Gas produced by the wells
The field has been in production for close on 45 years and as they have extracted the oil/gas out of the chalk substrate it has weakend the sea bed that it sits on, to the extent that the platforms were sinking, In a major engineering project they cut & jacked up the entire structure and fitted a 20 metre "spacer" thus extending the life of the platforms to at least 2055. It is still sinking though!
