Gentrification

This urban alley is new, created by these luxury apartments in what used to be a dirt lot. The skyscraper in the background is where I used to work. A 506-square-foot (154-square-meter) studio starts at $1,085. That's smaller than my place and about $200 more. Sheesh. They run up to two bedrooms (1,244 square feet/379 square meters) at $2,475.

This area is growing again, and it's going to price out everyone who was here before.
