Busking 2017

She's had such a great day. She had a fantastic hour of clarinet practise this morning, so much so we were late to leave for school! We made it though.

It's spelling and tables tests day on a Friday- she's the only one in the class with a 100% record in both tests and really wants to maintain it. She managed today. Perfection makes me nervous though- the fall from it will be very upsetting for her!

They had music as a class this morning- the music teacher was teaching them more of their songs for the musical. So happy katie.

Lunchtime was exciting for her- they have been working very hard, Katie, A & F to put together a puppet show as part of the charity fundraising fortnight. It was Katie's idea and script & she was quite worried no one would come or it would go badly. No need. About 60 children came to watch it and she said they all really liked it. the foundation kids had to be crowd controlled by the teacher as they got so excited! They raised about £35 for the fundraising total.

This afternoon she had orchestra. She was very excited that the first other y3 joined the orchestra today. She was a bit sad though that her friend hated it, was overwhelmed by the whole experience and didn't want to go back.

After orchestra, it was coats on for some of them as they were going outside to busk for charity. They played for about 40 minutes. Katie had a prime spot on the playground stage and was fabulous. The head came over whilst I was watching and asked her to play again some Gershwin he'd heard her play before. Last year, he sang along to Skye boat song. This year it was Let's Call the Whole Thing Off! She added about another £8 to the fundraising. Across the school, they usually raise around £4000 this fortnight. It's an incredible thing they put on, they support and encourage the children in going absolutely all out in so many ways for it.

Days like today are the days she comes out of school absolutely bouncing. This half term is so brilliant when you're a katie.
