Back to Blipping
Martin Mere Bird Festival 2017
I spent the morning walking with a group of people, and with the naturalist and TV wildlife presenter Nick Baker. Very interesting and enjoyable. Nick picks up on everything he sees and doesn't seem to miss a thing. He told us that, due to disease, the greenfinch in his neck of the woods have all but disappeared. He stressed the importance of cleaning bird feeders every week.
This is the list of birds I saw and photographed (I saw others but I didn’t photograph them all) :
Pink-footed geese
Whooper swans
Black-tailed godwits
Greenfinch
Kestrel
Kingfisher
Pintail ducks
Reed bunting
Shelduck
Starlings
Tufted ducks
Wigeon
I have chosen the shelduck as the blip because I don’t think I have blipped one before – got to have the record shots.
At the end of the day many of us stood in the reed bed and watched a starling murmuration – MAGIC.
