... over Cheltenham before we left town on the first available train this morning, to avoid the worst effects of the RMT strike. (Included the colour version as an extra for comparison.)

It was not a bad journey, especially since we had paid to upgrade the return trip to First class, because of our experience of over-crowding in previous years. But the cost of today's race meeting and an unnecessary overnight stay will be the subject of a claim submitted to the rail company.
