The Port at Amlwch

On the North East corner of Anglesey lies a small unassuming (?boring) little town called Amlwch.

In contrast, 150 -200 years ago , it was a bustling port where ships that could carry copper (mined from the nearby Parys Mountain quarry) were built and used to export the metal all over the British Empire.

Those days are long gone but the copper mine is still there polluting more than ever as copper leaches into the soil and ocean.

Nowadays it is home to a small fishing industry and houses the vessels that taks pilots out to cargo ship coming into Liverpool and Manchester
