John Hope Gateway

We cycled to The Botanic Gardens today, as part of our Monday exploration of Edinburgh's cycle paths.  It always a pleasure to visit the Botanics and rather than going into the gardens today we spent time in The Gateway building.  As you can see 2 gardeners were carefully attending to a new orchid exhibit. 
The roof of this building is fabulous -it is a floating timer canopy, supported by very thin steel poles.  The wood has patterns of microscopic images of cellulose engraved into it.
