The Liver bird in St Lukes, Liverpool
St. Luke's church in Liverpool was bombed and burnt out in the Liverpool blitz and has remained as a shell ever since. Both a memorial and a warning it has recently had some renovation work and is open to the public and to performers and artists.
Some tiny pieces of the stained glass have survived both the bombs and the subsequent years and among the surviving glass is this tiny Liver Bird. What better symbol of survival and defiance could you want?
