Bumpass Hell!

And with a name like that a place just needs to be visited!

Bumpass Hell is the name given to the sulphur springs in Lassen Volcanic Park. Apparently there was a cowboy in the local area who literally stumbled upon the springs in the 1860s. His leg went through the thin mud crust and he was really badly burnt. Understandably he described the area as 'hell' to the locals and the name stuck!
