Charming Life

Stranded

Today I am in Alderney. It was the worst landing of my life- side winds force 6 I think. We bounced over from Guernsey then seemed to come into land sideways. The captain had already warned us we might not make it and have to go back, but he was a determined man. It was a toss up whether the wing would touch before the wheels but we made it.
A great day in school but with one eye on the weather and airport. The wind was picking up and no other planes made it in or out so I wasn't surprised to find my flight cancelled

I am now staying in a lovely hotel where there is a decanter of sherry in my room to help myself from! Never had that before. (Shame is I don't drink). Had a delicious dinner in the hotel restaurant with an educational psychologist, ophthalmologist, and midwife who were on the same flight this morning who are also stranded.

Poor Mark has had to juggle a the children at home, cooking and picking my mum up from the airport who was able to get in on the jet plane from Gatwick.

Hope I make it back tomorrow.
