Top Dog

We had a dog trainer round last night to discuss a few problems we are having with Nevis - the biggest one being his unwillingness to be put back on the lead after being off. He never wanders off, but just refuses to be caught.

The trainer concluded that this is a dominance issue - i.e. Nevis reckons he is Top Dog in our house. Apparently some dogs can get quite aggressive if they believe this and don't have the mental strength to deal with it, but fortunately Nevis is so supremely self-confident that he is quite comfortable being Top Dog.

So we have been given various things to do to re-assert our authority, and prove to Nevis that he is actually Bottom Dog in the pack, after me and Mrs B. (not sure of the exact ordering of authority in the latter two!)

I will try to share a few of these things with you over the next four weeks and let you know how we get on.
