Angels on High

After last year's rather disastrous trip to Chatsworth we have sworn off ever visiting again at Christmas - but we can't resist a bit of stately home festivity so off we went to Castle Howard. It was a good decision. 

The house has been decorated with the theme 'Angels on High' by Charlotte Lloyd-Webber - much more elegant than Chatsworth, less crowded too (although it's still early in the season), and the Christmas dinner we stuffed down afterwards was as divine as the angels. 

We were lucky to catch the house in the morning sunshine, by the time we left the rain had arrived. The main photo is of the Golden Dome, and because I have loads of extras left this year I have put in a few more too. 

Now I've had sprouts, and pigs in blankets I can officially say "Merry Christmas"......
