Not Quite Beginning To Feel A Lot Like Christmas

A visit to Harewood House today with my friend K for our annual “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” day out to enjoy minced pies, mulled wine and lots of decorations. For the last few years we have been to Castle Howard but this year we decided to have a change, having enjoyed the series Victoria and knowing some of it was filmed there and that they were using the set designer to decorate the house.

Well what disappointment we both felt, such a lot of fakery...fake trees, fake fruits, fake swags, fake flowers and even fake crockery in the cafes (well paper, but that’s fake in my book) and it seemed to lack the coziness and luxury feel of Castle Howard. Don’t get me wrong there was some Victorian splendour and some very Christmassy Christmas Trees...but it’s not quite beginning to feel a lot like Christmas just yet!
