Ditchling Beacon
It was really cold last night and starting to get frosty when Alan let the boys out before bed, so I said that I wanted to go out early this morning to try and get some frosty photos. I did suggest Bushy Park, but that would have meant getting up at silly o'clock as it's 60 miles away, and a good 1.5 hours drive. We decided we'd go to Ditchling Beacon as that's the highest point round here and where I found snow in January, so I was hopeful that it would be covered in frost.
I set the alarm for 7am as we needed to go early, and when we got there it was only 1.5 degrees but there wasn't much frost. We had a lovely walk to the dew pond which is today's blip, and almost the same shot as I took in January which you can see here. We walked 1.5 miles in total without my crutch, so I'm very happy - it's getting easier and easier by the day.
When we got back to the car, we drove into Ditchling Village and went for breakfast at The Nutmeg Tree. It's a really 'Olde Worlde' cafe, and the waitresses are dressed in black with white old fashioned aprons on, and the interior of the cafe is decorated with things that probably date back to the 1930's. The other thing we liked about it, is that rather than being just one big room, there are lots of different, smaller rooms, giving it a more cosy feel. We sat near the coal fire, so it was perfect after our walk.
From there we strolled around the village and then went to Ridgeview vineyard where we ended up having a tasting and I bought a bottle of their sparkling wine for Alan's birthday which is in a few weeks.
Anyway, we're now off to the Palace, I hope you're having a good weekend and I'll catch up with you later.
