In the bleak midwinter

The garden thermometer registered -5C last night. Now that is a bit nippy and unexpected.
 
Our cordylines while hardy, don’t like sub-zero temperatures  (-5C is their max) and we have yet to wrap them up for winter.
 
Meanwhile the first task this morning was to get a set of all winter   tyres.   Other people had the same idea and many had to be turned away.
 

Fortunately M was first in the queue.
