Cold

The house was freezing when we got home last night, frost on all the windows.  We'd switched the heating off while we were away.  A fire was lit, the heating was switched on, extra layers were put on and a second duvet was placed on the bed.  We survived.
And the cold persisted through the day.  But it was good to look out on it rather than experience it directly.
