Sunshine on Skye...

Ida's first time on a beach.

She hadn't been walking too long by this stage and she hated walking on the sand. I thought that would be the end of it, until she toddled straight for the water and plonked herself down. Once she was in the sea she was in her element, splashing about and enjoying the new textures. It was BLOODY freezing so I was pretty surprised.

I'm pleased I managed to capture this scene - a moment of calm and serenity. Ida is basking in all that is wonderful about being a toddler. Holiday time with her family, enjoying her new physical accomplishments. Sunshine on a beach. I mean, it doesn't get any more simple or fulfilling than this does it? Ida is at one with the world around her.

Or...

Somewhere behind me Arlo is running around completely starkers roaring and 'nyeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrr'ing at the top of his lungs being a jet plane. People are actively walking in a 'let's take a wide berth from crazy people' motions.

Ida has just thrown my bag into the sea with all the clothes and towels into it. Both are covered in snot and sand and are chaffing in places there should NEVER be chaffing. Both kids have to be picked up and carried to the tent like old, mangy carpets.Well - old, mangy carpets that kick and scream. And 20 minutes after this was taken both kids are crying so loudly (from hunger, tireness, cold, sand rubbing related pain) that a man in a camper van packs up all his stuff, starts his engine and drives to the OTHER side of the campsite to get away from our noise.

Still. I have this moment. I have this moment and I'm bloody well sticking with it.
