I had been reasonably impressed with the weak grey-green glow in the northern sky sometime last winter, and missed the more extravagant show earlier this year, so was being reasonably impressed again at a vague green glow when it suddenly went all shimmery, swirly, shifting and shuffling for a good ten minutes.
