There was this row of oyster catchers, standing motionless on the beach at the Ardyne, on the very edge of the calm sea, looking out towards Bute and on to Arran, which was more or lest lost in the mists. I sneaked my phone out, swiped it into readiness, took one step forward up onto the grass for a better view. I swear none of them was looking at me, but ...
They were off! And actually I love the sheer craziness of this, even though their relatively motionless black and white bodies are blurred by poor light. But their wings are a marvellous flurry of movement, and in no time at all they had vanished into the dusk.
Bet they were annoyed ...
